Automation Engineer – AI & Digitalization Integration
About The Position
We are seeking a smart, solution-oriented Automation Engineer – AI & Digitalization Integration to design, engineer, and implement automation/control system projects, while also contributing to Competency Management knowledge development within the engineering department. The role requires strong hands-on expertise in control systems engineering, IoT technologies, and process-oriented methodologies, along with the ability to document, transfer, and strengthen organizational competencies in engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Design & Engineering: Drive the design and engineering of PLC/DCS-based control systems for SC-OPS projects across the full lifecycle.
- Architectural Development: Develop, review, and validate control system architectures, loop schematics, panel layouts, and engineering documentation.
- Digitalization & AI Integration: Apply AI-driven design strategies and digital tools to enhance automation workflows, reduce engineering hours, and improve system reliability.
- IoT & Edge Solutions: Design IoT-enabled architectures ensuring secure, scalable integration between field devices, gateways, edge computing platforms, and cloud/OT systems.
- Innovation & R&D: Participate in research initiatives to modernize control applications, evaluate emerging technologies (AI, ML, predictive analytics), and improve system performance.
- Compliance & Standards: Ensure all designs meet internal standards, cybersecurity requirements, and customer specifications.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Electrical, Mechanical, Cybersecurity, and Digital Solutions teams to deliver integrated solutions.
- Hands-On Execution: Perform configuration, FAT/SAT, system simulations, and troubleshooting for automation systems.
- Lifecycle Support: Manage end-to-end project execution from concept through commissioning and handover.
Competency & Knowledge Development
- Develop and maintain engineering standards, templates, and best practices.
- Create training modules and technical documentation for digital tools and AI-enabled workflows.
- Mentor junior engineers and foster technical depth in automation and digitalization.
- Contribute to internal technology evaluations and proof-of-concept projects.
IoT, AI & Digitalization Contributions
- Evaluate and implement IoT protocols (MQTT, OPC UA, REST APIs) for secure integration.
- Support development of smart control prototypes leveraging edge computing, remote monitoring, and predictive maintenance.
- Use data analytics and AI models to identify optimization opportunities and drive continuous improvement.
- Research vendors, benchmark technologies, and build internal knowledge on emerging automation and AI tools.
Requirements
To Be Successful in This Role, You Must Have:
- Bachelor’s in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or Control Systems Engineering.
- 3+ years of experience
- Strong knowledge of SCADA, PLCs, DCS, IoT applications.
- Familiarity with process-oriented methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving, solution-oriented mindset.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work under deadlines with a smart and hands-on approach.
- Interest in Competency Management, knowledge sharing, and capability building.
